ATLANTIC CITY - The owners of Atlantic City's Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort say the resort could close on Dec. 12. In a filing made Friday with a Delaware bankruptcy court, Trump Entertainment Resorts says its board has approved a shutdown of the casino by Dec. 12. The company had threatened to close by that date if its main union doesn't drop its appeal of a court-ordered cost-savings package. The filing says Trump Entertainment has notified New Jersey casino regulators of its intention to close, and is preparing to cease operations by mid-December. Company officials could not immediately be reached for comment Friday afternoon. They said in court papers the closing will happen because Trump Entertainment has not received the state and local tax breaks it sought.
