This past weekend, due to some prior engagements, we found ourselves in the midst of Manhattan. Typically I try to avoid the city on the weekends, but this time around it just couldn't be helped. So we made the most of it and visited a few of the arcades in the city, including quite possibly the most well-known Dave & Buster's location of all, the Times Square spot on 42nd Street! Located right inbetween Madame Tussaud's wax museum and the AMC Empire 25 multiplex, and in order to get there you need to take a set of escalators up to the third floor, past the Applebee's on the 2nd floor. (Sorry, boneless wings. Not today.) While this particular location pales in size when compared to other stand-alone spots, they have a solid mix of games with most of the standard favorites here, a few newer games such as Godzilla, Marvel Avengers, and NBA Superstars, and even some older stuff that you don't typically see everywhere these days like Temple Run, Dead Heat, and Razing Storm. Rhythm games are represented by Dance Dance Revolution (running A20 online for the time being) and Guitar Hero Arcade. One important thing to note about this particular site is that, due to it being in one of the most heavily-trafficked, highest-rent areas in the United States, most of the games are set at a higher chip cost than usual. For example, most redemption games that would typically cost 7.5 chips are bumped up to 8.0 chips, and a single round of DDR will set you back 10.5 chips instead of the usual 9.9 it costs nearly everywhere else.
